TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Hello, I'm Kate! I am beginning my second year as an elementary school counselor at a K-4 school in Ohio. I am very fortunate to work at a school with diverse students, a supportive community, and a wonderful staff. Before I became a school counselor, I spent eight years as a classroom teacher--six years in second grade, one year in first grade, and one year in a pre-primary Montessori classroom. I have a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and a dual master's degree in School Counseling and Community Counseling. My background in education and professional counseling has given me a strong foundation to begin developing a comprehensive school counseling program. I started my blog, EduKate & Inspire, in 2012 as a way to share ideas and collaborate with teachers in the online world. While much of my TPT Store is currently filled with teaching ideas, I am excited to begin connecting with other counselors! Being a part of the blogging community has challenged me professionally and made me a stronger educator. I am passionate about creating lessons that both educate and inspire children, which is where I got the idea for my blog name!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I create engaging lessons that incorporate many learning styles, technology, and character development.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

As a teacher, I served as grade level chair and also participated in many district committees. I have received three Education Association Grants, as well as two DonorsChoose Grants. I enjoy mentoring new teachers and helping other teachers with technology. I have also had the privilege of teaching internationally in El Salvador and Ghana.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

BS in Early Childhood Education, MA in Counseling, Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed School Counselor
