TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching English, ESL, EFL, and ELL for the past 11 years. I specialize in teaching 1st through 3rd graders, and I enjoy every minute of it. :)

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe in getting to know students, first, before helping students to learn. (This can be difficult when children have little or no English, but children always knows when a teacher is kind to them.) After students feel welcome in the classroom, they are ready to learn anything! :) Next, I believe in engaging young learners' attention in English class, and providing plenty of experiential learning opportunities. Finally, speaking, writing, and reading activities should be age-appropriate and fun! :) Lessons must also address different learning styles of students, and any special need that a student may have.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Over 11 years, I have had the pleasure of providing training and support for many other English and EFL educators. I have also had the great honor of being an assistant principal for a small school in Guangzhou, China. Currently, I am the head of the Elementary ELL program at an international school in Ningbo, China.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated Cum Laude (and a member of the English honors society) from the University of Edinboro in Edinboro, Pennsylvania. I also have my TESOL (teaching English to speakers of other languages) certificate, which I earned from the TESOL international school in Florence, Italy. Finally, I have a TEFL-C certificate (from Columbia University) that is a special qualification for teaching English to children.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, writing, running, and relaxing. :)
