I taught for two years at a wonderful school in Utah where I had about 280 eighth grade students a year including a gifted class. Now I teach in New Mexico right along the United States boarder, close to Mexico. Many of my students speak English as a second language to Spanish. I teach about 80 seventh graders and am lucky enough to see them every day.
In my classroom, students discover knowledge as they develop skills through real world contexts. I try to help them feel ownership over their learning and try to create a student-lead environment. As their teacher, I am their coach, mentoring them through this educational journey.
Student Teacher of the Year Award from Brigham Young University for English teaching majors.
I grew up in Las Vegas, NV where I attended public school. I then continued my education at Brigham Young University in Utah. Since then, I have continued learning through receiving my gifted and talented endorsement and working to increase my knowledge of teaching ELL students.
