Hi! My name is Laurie, and I'm an elementary ESL teacher from upstate NY. I'm certified in both elementary education and ESOL, and have over ten years teaching experience in both public and parochial schools. I love sharing ideas for teaching ELL students, especially lesson ideas and activities for teaching new English speakers in grades K-6.
I love using a variety of instructional strategies to meet the individual needs of my students. I also love making learning fun!
One of my proudest professional moments was receiving an award from the Rochester City School District for implementing a Saturday Family Literacy Program.
I have degrees in elementary education from Wheaton College (IL) and T.E.S.O.L. (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Nazareth College (NY).
I love to read, and it is my desire that every student I work with would also learn the joy of books! Also, although it is not in my subject area, I love STEM initiatives and robotics. I happen to be a FIRST LEGO League (FLL) coach!
