I started teaching 1st grade at a brand new elementary school. I was challenged, given opportunities to learn a lot, and grew a TON. After three years, I was ready for a change. I moved to another brand new elementary school and started teaching 2nd grade. This will be my third year to teach 2nd grade, and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! My school is currently departmentalized in 2nd grade. I teach English and Social Studies. The move from self-contained to being departmentalized was quite the adjustment, but now I can’t imagine ever going back to being self-contained. Aside from teaching, I help write curriculum for our school’s STEM Lab and coach our girls’ high school soccer team. In 2013, we started a STEM Lab rotation for grades K-4. The teachers take their class to the STEM Lab once a week and teach various STEM lessons. Coaching soccer will be new this year! I’m grateful for the opportunity. Not many elementary teachers get to coach a high school sport! I played soccer all the way through college and LOVE IT! However, I look forward to being “on the other side of things” for a change, ha! Technology has also been a passion of mine! Although I’m young (as my teammates like to remind me on a daily basis), there was not a whole lot of technology integration when I was in school. Therefore, incorporating technology into my lessons IS and probably WILL ALWAYS BE a learning curve! I enjoy making resources to go along with what my students are learning. I love using project-based apps for students to share their creativity. My latest endeavor is blogging and posting items to TPT (Teachers Pay Teachers). I’m always looking for the next big thing in the educational/technology world!

In the little free time I have I LOVE playing with my daughter, completing Pinterest projects with my husband, scrapbooking, catching up on my guilty pleasures recorded on the DVR (love that reality TV), napping, playing soccer, going to church, and eating Mexican food!
