I retired from teachng after 31 years in the elementary classroom in May of 2014. I taught kinder, first (15 years), second, second departmentalized writing, third, third reading intervention, third departmentalized ELA, and self-contained Fourth Grade. I have extensive training and experience in teaching phonics and language arts. I enjoy creating digital teaching tools, especially Powerpoints. I taught in a nationally recognized technology immersion small rural school district. We were blessed to have laptops, Smartboards, document cameras, and other digital media. I enjoyed finding ways to make learning more interesting for students by using these new tools. My goal is to offer quality products that I have created and revised over the years, giving other teachers the benefit of my hours/years of work for a reasonable price. In 2011-2012 I taught departmentalized 2nd grade ELA, using a balanced literacy approach with Cscope and many ideas from CAFE and Daily 5 for my reader's workshop and centers. During the 2012-2013 year I taught departmentalized 3rd Grade ELA, continuing to implement reader's workshop, Cscope and many ideas from CAFE and Daily 5. In 2013-14 I returned to second grade departmentalized ELA. However, I built products for my coworkers and therefore have items from all elementary grade levels and subject areas in my store.
I taught traditional self-contained elementary grades K-5 (15 years first grade/6 years third grade, and various others), intensive first grade phonics, departmentalized 2nd grade writing, departmentalized 2nd and 3rd grade reading/ela, reading intervention, blocked ELA/Social Studies, and primary grade whole language. My school in Texas uses Cscope curriculum, so I implemented a balanced literacy and reader's workshop approach, using many ideas from CAFE and Daily 5, as well as my own ideas from my years of experience in the classroom. During my career I taught everything from extremely phonics-based traditional ELA to Whole Language, and back. I have also taught different Math approaches, from drill and; practice, discovery, and heavily scripted programs. My products reflect what I consider the best methods and ideas from of all the approaches I've taught.
