I taught K-7th grade for over 15 years. After having a full time teaching position, I went on to conduct district wide seminars instructing educators about identifying dyslexia in the classrooms. I also conducted professional development classes for teachers using the latest and best in how to teach a dyslexia or learning disabled child to learn to read. Some of the professional development classes included: Scientific Spelling, Multisensory Grammar, Phonological Awareness, Basic Language Skills-Book 1, Book 2 and Book 3. I now have a private practice teaching children and adults with dyslexia. My lectures and one on one consultations help to alleviate the misconceptions behind the learning abilities of the dyslexic.
I guide students to develop their own self sustaining reading skills, so they will be successful readers in the future. With direct instructions, I teach my students the 44 phonemes (Sounds), 6 Syllable Types (ie.Open Syllable, ect.),and the 7 Syllable Divisions (ie.VC/CV, ect.) With this knowledge a child can read and spell 80% of the English Language. These are the three greatest gifts a teacher can give a student.

I am overwhelmed with joy when a student unravels the mysteries of reading a passage without my help. I get to see the light of comprehension in their eyes when they finally understand the systematic methods behind our reading lessons.
