I have about 20 years of teaching experience. I began teaching in 2002 in seventh and eighth grade for three years. Then, I taught fourth grade for nine years. I am currently teaching sixth grade ELA. I have taught social studies, reading, and writing separately. But, the majority of my experience has been in teaching combined language arts classes of reading and writing.

I prefer to focus on the standards as goals to achieve and communicate the skills needed to be learned to my students. I feel this helps them understand the big, scary word, "standards," that they hear about. I generally begin with whole class instruction and move onto smaller groups and centers as a unit of study progresses. I incorporate technology frequently. Google Classroom has made my life so much easier!

I received my BS degree in elementary education from Ball State University in 2002. I received my MS degree in reading and literacy from Walden University in 2010.

I am originally from Indiana, but I have lived in Ohio since I began teaching in 2002. I have a little dog and a bit of a chocolate addiction.
