Hi! My name is Ellie Talley. I have been teaching for seven years at the upper elementary/middle school level. The first six years of my teaching career, I taught language arts, social studies, and reading in the most impoverished neighborhoods in my state. During that time, I helped my school rise to the top 5% of public schools in the state in the area of academic growth. Currently, I teach Current Events and U.S. history to 7th and 8th graders and coordinate a mentoring program in my school district for elementary students.
I believe that learning should be exploratory, engaging, and student-centered. I also believe in the power of the student-teacher relationship. These values serve as the foundation for the culture and climate in my classroom. We are a community of learners who appreciate and embrace ourselves and each other.

I am a wife and mother to two boys and three bonus kids. I need time with my family, sunshine, books, a good run, and coffee. During the summer, you'll find me poolside cooking up new ideas for the upcoming school year. :)
