Imagine if The Outsiders was written from the point of view of a Soc instead of a Greaser? For most of The Outsiders, the Socs are villainized, until Ponyboy has some experiences that help us see what maybe goes on there on the other side of town.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching junior-high English for six years, with time in 7th, 8th, and 9th grades. I also piloted a film and literature class, and taught that for a few years before handing it off to someone else. I currently teach 9th Honors and spend part of my day coaching new teachers at my school.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I teach core-based lessons that support student collaboration, reflection, and autonomy. More than anything I strive to instill a growth-mindset in my students; junior-high is tough, but self-efficacy makes a world of difference.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

2015 UCTE (Utah Council of Teacher's of English) Teacher of the Year 2016-2017 teacher of the year at current school

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a BA in English (minor in editing), as well as a teaching certificate in secondary ELA.
