TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I'm an elementary special education teacher who just finished her fourth year teaching! I was initially trained as a general education teacher but fell into a special education teacher position right out of college, fell in love with the job, and never looked back! I have worked with students in grades K-4 and am currently a fourth grade inclusion teacher in an inner city school full of English Language Learners.

MY TEACHING STYLE

As a teacher of students with disabilities, as well as English Language Learners, I have found that in order to help students be successful, you need to look at each one as an individual. That is, of course, easier said than done, but something I need to remind myself of over and over. I love utilizing visuals and manipulatives, and I love disguising practice activities as games. My day-to-day teaching consists of a whole lot of trial and error and constant reflection on what works, what doesn't, and how to do better next time!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Most recently, I was rated as Proficient across the board on the Massachusetts Educator's Evaluation for the 2013-2014 school year.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I received my bachelor's degrees in Early Childhood Education and Psychology in 2009. At that time, I became licensed in the state of Massachusetts in the area of Early Childhood Education for Students with and without Disabilities. I am currently pursuing an additional license in the area of Moderate Disabilities for students PreK-8.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my amazingly supportive family!
