TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am a Kodaly & Orff teacher in my 14th year of full time music teaching. I currently teach Kindergarten through 2nd grade general music in Enfield, Connecticut, at 2 elementary schools. I have taught toddler and preschool general music, K-6 general/vocal music, grades 4-6 chorus, high school chorus, high school general music, and high school music theory.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am a Kodaly and Orff teacher who pulls from many resources :) I was trained by John Feierabend in First Steps in Music & Conversational Solfege.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Kodaly Certified Level 1-3 completed at University of Hartford, Hartt School of Music in 2004-2006. Studied Kodaly Pedagogy with Dr. John Feierabend. Orff Certified Level 1 completed at University of Harford, Hartt School of Music in 2012. Studied Orff Pedagogy with Michael Chandler. My high school choruses were invited based on a good performance at a Hartt choral festival to take part in a chorus concert at St. Joseph's Cathedral in Hartford, Connecticut. Finalist for Teacher of the Year in Enfield, CT three times. Was placed as a runner up!

Norwich Free Academy - High School Diploma (1997) University of Southern Maine - Bachelor of Music in Music Education Combined emphasis of instrumental and vocal music (2001) Studied Classical Piano as my major instrument. ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I grew up in Norwich, CT, and currently live in Enfield, CT, which is minutes from Springfield, MA. I got married in July of 2014 and my husband and I love spending time at comedy shows, Broadway performances in Hartford, zip lining, playing lacrosse and going to Six Flags. We have a ragdoll cat named Mazie Mae that looks like grumpy cat!
