As an elementary school teacher I have taught most grade levels and I have learned the relevance of spelling in education. My classes are often predominantly comprised of English Language Learners, and run the gamut in regards to ability, often including GATE students. In my efforts to cater to the large variation in ability, I found spelling dictation not only motivated students to perform to the best of their ability, but also attended to the needs of each ability level.

I developed a love for children only after having my own family. My goal as a teacher has always been to inspire students to believe in themselves, especially those in underprivileged social groups. I have a high regard for follow through and accountability, which hopefully teaches students not to make excuses for their plight but to do something about it. My childhood was in poverty and I came from a very dysfunctional family, yet as a result of the love and inspiration from my mother and a few great mentor teachers, I have accomplished my goals. The children I teach are our future, and with that in mind my life has been dedicated to them.
