I began my teaching career as team leader of a brand new French Immersion program in Alberta, Canada. Our team has taken every opportunity to better ourselves and become the very best French Immersion program possible. We have dissected the curriculum, attended dozens of PD sessions, read loads of FI literature, visited numerous schools, and had endless meaningful conversations about how best to deliver our program and have students succeed. Our goal is to create an amazing learning environment for students to flourish in their first language of English, all while becoming fluent in French. I spent a couple of years teaching grade 1 French Immersion, followed by a role as the learning support coordinator for our immersion program in grades K-4. This coming year, I will be splitting my team lead and learning support role with a home-room grade 3 French Immersion position.
I have always been a hands-on and visual learner, and I think that I bring a lot of this to my teaching style. I love natural teaching moments, and I know that my students are learning and inspired when they not only find the answers, but ask the questions that lead to their discoveries.
