TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have 21 years of experience teaching elementary school. I earned a Masters Degree in Education from Lake Erie College in 2003, and I earned National Board Certification Middle Childhood Generalist 2003-2013. I have also worked at Cleveland Metro Parks Zoo as an Education Assistant for their Overnight Program and a Guest Interpreter at Lake Farm Park. I am currently attending Purdue University and working toward a Masters Degree in Instructional Design and Technology. I love teaching and learning, and I really enjoy creating learning materials that apply to the standards and create engaging opportunities for students to be actively involved in their learning.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style is to make connections with the students while creating and implementing quality, engaging, and informative lessons that are enjoyable and interesting. I like to provide direct instruction combined with guided and independent practice that is differentiated to meet the needs of all learners. Included in all of this, I like to use detailed lesson plans, pretests showing student background knowledge, and exit slips showing growth and informing further instruction. Additionally, hands on activities, use of manipulatives, and projects underscore the direction of my teaching style.
