TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I currently teach Freshmen English, ESOL, and Honors English IV. I have significant experience working with at-risk and socioeconomically disadvantaged youth, and as a leader in developing a school-wide ELA curriculum based on the new Common Core standards. I was invited to present my work on family and community education engagement strategies at the Greater Boston All Corps Conference (fall 2011).

I have a Master's in Education from Boston University, with a focus in English Language Learning strategies. I also have a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Connecticut, a Bachelor of Arts in English with a focus in Creative Writing from the University of Connecticut, and a Creative Writing specialty certificate from Firenze Arti Visive (Florence, Italy). In addition to my degrees, I have completed over 110 hours of coursework and seminars in instructional planning, classroom management, learning theory, literacy, leadership techniques, diversity training, and ELL teaching strategies.
