TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I'm a new teacher with 3 years of full-time experience. I began teaching a 4th, 5th, and 6th grade combined, inclusive classroom. That was something! I'm now teaching within my certification as a 7th-12th grade English and History teacher at a small Christian charter school in Ohio.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I love to get the kids talking. I try to begin class with an initial discussion, have a teaching/lecture time for up to twenty minutes, and then let the students do something hands-on to reinforce the ideas that have been introduced.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Sigma Tau Delta English Honors society, Honors Program graduate from MVNU, "Rookie" of the year award

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Gallia Academy High School class of 2008 Mount Vernon Nazarene University class of 2012 Ohio University Master of Arts in English 2017

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I group up moving all over the country. We settled down long enough that I got to attend all four years at the same high school in Gallipolis, OH. I received my degree in Integrated Language Arts Education from Mount Vernon Nazarene University in 2012. I taught High School English for 5 years, and I am currently teaching College Writing and Introduction to Literature at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. If I could live in a library, I would. My house is pretty close though :)
