TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught English as a second or other language for some time. I taught in Brazil while I lived there, and since I moved to the U.S. I have taught at an Intensive English Program at UNC Charlotte and at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. I have experience with students of virtually all ages, from preschoolers to adults, and of all proficiency levels. Currently, most of my students are young adults from many different countries. They live in the USA and have plans to become undergraduate or graduate students in American universities.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Because of the influence I had in the school where I started, I am a big fan of the Multiple Intelligence theory by H.Gardner. I try to incorporate different strategies in every class to address students' different learning styles. I also seek to develop my students learning strategies so that they can be successful in whatever they choose to study.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Before becoming a teacher, I worked for 8 years as a Speech Language Pathologist. As a teacher, I have the ICELT (In-service Certificate for English Language Teaching) by the University of Cambridge, a Graduate Certificate in TESL from UNC Charlotte, and a Master's degree in English: English for Specific Purposes also from UNCC. With that, I am a certified Bilingual/ESL teacher in North Carolina.
