I have been a classroom teacher for 25 years, teaching grades 6 through 12 in a high school in Spain. I have spent most of my years in the upper grades teaching ESL and in middle grades teaching Social Sciences in English. I am Nationally Board Certified, a master teacher, and have my Masters in Education. At the beginning of my career I also worked two years in the primary school of my home town, an experience which I loved, and I was the Spanish language assistant in a liberal arts college in Iowa. I have completed different teaching strategies courses in DCU in Dublin and in Esade in Barcelona. I have also delivered Teachers Training Courses on Content and Language Integrated Learning.
I take a constructivist, inquiry-based approach to learning. I train my students to be as self-sufficient as possible so that they gain the most out of my class. I believe they learn best when they think critically. Students learn how to learn. They ask questions that are meaningful to them. I think my students should love being in the classroom and that is what I keep in mind when I create teaching resources for TpT. My goal is to create high-quality products that are easy to use and include some creative or critical thinking elements. I am also a strong supporter of teaching in a cooperative style and of using Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) to boost my students’ English skills.
