I am a second year teacher of ELA in middle school. I am teaching 6th and 7th grade at this time.
I am not a traditional ELA teacher. I like to look at reading and writing in new, innovative ways. My students compete in new groups each quarter, extend their learning with art and creativity, and are exposed to UDL and STEM whenever it is an option. I find that my students enjoy writing if taught through steps that are easy for them to understand, and because writing is a passion of mine, I try to emulate that love for them. I also use technology in all ways possible and am a huge fan of utilizing my Smart Board.

I am a 2015 graduate of Frostburg State University in Frostburg, MD. I have a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Middle School ELA, and I am now certified to teach English up to twelfth grade.
I live in beautiful Western Maryland with my husband and my golden retriever puppy, Rex. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy running, writing, reading, baking/cooking, and crafting DIY projects (mostly for my classroom). Teaching is my happy place, and I am elated to be living out what I believe is my true purpose in life.
