My teaching career officially started in a tiny village in rural Tanzania and now finds me teaching in Canada's largest city - Toronto. I am currently the head of history at my school which is a highly academic collegiate but prior to this, I taught for four years at a high needs high school with a majority special education population.
High interest, academic rigor, authentic learning tasks, interactive, tech/media savvy, higher order thinking, historical thinking skills, 21st century relevant.
Voted "Tallest Teacher" 2009-2014 by all my students. Selected as "Most Creative Approach To Using Paper Mache In the Classroom" 2011 *the above awards are meant to be jokes, but hopefully you knew that! Government of Canada Award in Teaching History (this one's real folks!)
Bachelor of Art - History/Georgraphy Bachelor of Education - Secondary Additional Qualifications: Special Education, ESL, Library, History Specialist
I believe you have to make history come alive for students to engage and become passionate about what they are learning.
