I am currently a 4th grade magnet teacher in Washington County, Maryland. I have taught 4th grade in North Carolina and Maryland, and was previously a library media specialist for 2 years.
I believe in student-centered education that allows students to take control of their own learning. In my classroom students are responsible for meeting the demands of various learning tasks that guide them to the understanding they require to meet their individual goals. My students work collaboratively much of the time and are required to transfer their knowledge in creative and original ways to authentic, real-world scenarios.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Reading from Shippensburg University and a Master's degree in Library Science and Information Technology from Mansfield University.
I am passionate about personalized 21st century education as I believe it is our responsibility as educators to prepare our students for the high-tech, fast-paced, diverse world in which we live.
