I've been working in my school district for 9 years now, 7 of which I have been a full-time teacher. First grade was my first teaching love. I spent my first 3 years teaching these wonderful first graders. I LOVED my job in first. Then I was asked to move to kindergarten to implement some literacy strategies to the kindergarten curriculum. So I went, kicking and screaming the whole way! I never thought I'd say this back then, but I love kindergarten even more than I ever thought possible! I have been teaching kindergarten for 4 years now and it will be hard to ever leave this grade! I'm so thankful to love what I do so much!
I'm a pretty laid back teacher. I find it so important to respect the students, their abilities, and personalities. We love to laugh, be so silly, and have a blast. And of course, all of this while learning. I aim to create well-balanced children. Kids who carry kindness in their hearts and knows the power of their brains and attitudes. Every day I work to gently guide these kiddos to be their best.
I received the 2013 Golden Eagle Mentor Award offered by our district and community. This was presented to me for my work with all of the students regardless of ability or background and owning the progress of every student.
I graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University with a bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education and a minor in psychology. I have since finished my masters degree from National University in the Art of Teaching.
