I am currently in my 20th year of teaching. I have taught 6th, 4th, and 3rd grades, most of which have been in classrooms with a significant percentage of children with learning disabilities.
I have a very flexible teaching style. My goal is to give all students what they need to be successful. I have various seating options and a chill zone in my classroom. In addition, I am constantly on the lookout to find new and fun ways to present curriculum in ways that actively engage children.
I won an award for excellence in my first year of teaching. Two years ago an award was created in my honor by the special education parents association. It was given to several peers as well as myself for creatively providing children with special needs with what they needed to be successful. Last year I won an award called the "Spotlight on Excellence" award, which is given to one teacher in each building within our school system for excellence in teaching.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and English. I have a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instructional Technology. I have a C.A.G.S. in Literacy. I have an S.E.I. (Sheltered English Immersion) Endorsement on my license.
I have been married for 17 amazing years to a wonderful man who truly understands how important this job is to me. I am a mother of two wonderful children, who always strive to do their best academically both because they see how much I value education, and they see how education provides them with opportunities that they wouldn't have otherwise. I am blessed!
