This is my third year teaching! Currently, I am a kindergarten through 12th grade ESL teacher. Before, I taught ESL to students in kindergarten through 6th grade. I love that I get a chance to work with multiple grade levels. It can be challenging, but it always keeps me on my toes!
I love the challenge of ESL. Every year, my students come to me with very varied academic/social backgrounds and language ability. It is true when I say that no year is the same! I am constantly striving to find new ways to motivate my kiddos and meet their individual needs. I love learning about my students (interests, learning styles, etc...) and then creating lessons/units that are engaging to them. I am also learning (slowly) how to incorporate more technology into my classroom as well. (This year is my first year with a smart board!) Overall, my goal is to meet students where they are, help them set goals (as a class and individually) and then provide them with the supports they need to succeed. Every student can learn and that is my goal!
Yet to be added
I have my bachelor's degree in elementary education and my program specialist certification in ESL. In addition, I am in the midst of pursuing my master's degree in reading and literacy education.
In addition to being a teacher, I am a wife, runner, reader, baker and annoying optimist! :)
