TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Hello! I'm Jennifer of everything just so. In twelve years of teaching, I have spent most of my time in third and sixth grades.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am a big believer in balanced literacy and follow the workshop approach for reading and writing. I try to limit whole group instruction and allow students to experience learning individually and in small groups. In lesson and unit planning, I follow a backward design approach using the Understanding by Design method.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

NEA Master Teacher, Teacher Consultant for the National Writing Project, Associate member of the Association of Orton Gillingham Practitioners and Educators.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I received my Bachelor's of Education from Mercer University and my Master's of Education in Curriculum and Instruction: Literacy from Ashland University. I am licensed in Early Childhood PK-3 with a 4-5 Generalist endorsement, and a K-12 Reading endorsement.
