Hello! I'm Jennifer of everything just so. I've spent over 20 years in the field of education with most of my teaching experience in third and sixth grade.
I am a big believer in balanced literacy and follow the workshop approach for reading and writing. I try to limit whole group instruction and allow students to experience learning individually and in small groups. In lesson and unit planning, I follow a backward design approach using the Understanding by Design method.
I’ve had the privilege of working with the following organizations: • NEA, Master Teacher • International Literacy Association, Contributing Writer • National Writing Project, Teacher Consultant • Association of Orton Gillingham Practitioners and Educators, Associate level Member • BetterLesson, Master Teacher • Scholastic, Teacher Advisory Panel • ScootPad, Teacher Advisory Panel
A little more about me… • Over 20 years in the field of education with most of my classroom experience in third and sixth grades • B.S. Ed. in Elementary Education • M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction with Literacy focus and additional reading endorsement • Trained in the Orton Gillingham approach • Trained in the workshop approach for reading and writing at Teachers College Reading and Writing Project, Columbia University
