I have been a secondary classroom English teacher for the past 15 years, and I'm looking forward to the next 15 and beyond! I carry great enthusiasm for the age group, love the subject, and hope to continue to sharpen my pedagogical craft along the way. After 8 years of teaching junior high, I taught post-secondary English at the University of Arizona. After a few years of missing the secondary classroom, I found a great job teaching 9th grade English, 11th grade AP Language and Composition, American Literature, and a dual enrollment writing course through the local community college where I adjunct in the evenings. Life is good!
I am an advocate of a student-centered classroom that diversifies lessons and makes all facets of instruction accessible to every student. Because English Language Arts is a skills-based subject, I structure each lesson to meet the student where he or she is, and then improve his or her skill sets, no matter how remedial or advance he or she is.
