15 years teaching English Language Arts and English as a Second Language to 6th-8th graders in an urban setting. The last two years of my career, I have been the educational technology teacher and librarian for a smaller, more suburban school. I have also spent time teaching adult classes for our local teacher's union, mostly in the area of classroom management.
I promote self-learning and help students develop critical thinking skills and retain knowledge; the goal is self-actualization. We need to teach students how to teach themselves.
In 2009, I was the proud recipient of the Milken Educator Award.
Born and raised in Taos, NM, I attended a mix of private and public schools. For my secondary education, I attended the University of New Mexico, where I received both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Elementary Education.
Highly qualified in library and media science, in addition to Elementary Education and Teaching English as a Second Language.
