I have an Ed.M in ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) and currently teach at an Intensive English Program at a large public state university. I have taught inner city high school students in the United States as well as elementary and middle school students in Taiwan.
My products are designed to address and improve concrete language and study skills in English Language Learners, while introducing them to age-appropriate content. They are designed with upper level middle and high school students in mind, as well as for university students and adult learners. Though there is a plethora of materials for younger lower-level ELLs, there is a paucity of materials for older lower-level students: I aim to rectify that with my products. They are made for both ease of use and adaptability. I use all of my products in my own classroom. For me, the purpose of education is to create situations which enable students to develop the skills, knowledge, and attitudes that allow them to achieve their own learning goals. I firmly feel that students should be willing and motivated participants in their own education. My task as an English language teacher is to increase fluency as well as linguistic and cultural competence-skills becoming more and more central and necessary in our increasingly smaller world. To this end I believe in active learning in authentic contexts.
