This is one of many handouts I give to students who are struggling with sculpting techniques. It breaks down the parts of the hand in an easy to digest way. The biggest mistake students make when sculpting hands is bending the fingers into a curve.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

4 years of high school classroom experience as well as 1 year of middle school. I spent 1 year as a substitute teacher in between. Currently teaching Visual Art Comprehensive, Ceramics 1, Ceramics 2, Ceramics 3, Sculpture 1, and AP 3D design.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am a strong believer in using humor in the classroom. We have a BLAST every day, but we are working at a fast pace. If something looks "off", I do not feel the slightest bit of guilt in calling students out. While my classroom has an atmosphere of fun and excitement, my curriculum is rigorous. My expectations? High. I give students blunt, but honest feedback and encourage them to give the same level of thorough feedback to their peers. We are always looking for new and innovative ways to explore art media.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I have received various awards and recognition for my artwork, including Best in Show and the Mcclure-Scanlan Award at the Hal. B. Rhodes Art Exhibition in Dahlonega, GA.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

BS in Art Education from North Georgia College & State University.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
