I am in my 13th year as an educator. I have taught 6th Ancient History, 7th Grade World History and 8th Grade American History. I also created and implemented a Model United Nations course at my middle school that included trips to Spain for an international conference. I have served as the head of the Social Studies department for the past 5 years. Currently, I work as a curriculum writer for my school district, writing new curriculum for 7th and 8th grade with an emphasis on skills practice, primary sources and inquiry.
Relationships matter and no teaching and learning can be done with out them. I like to create opportunities for students to engage with the content and learning via small groups, rotation stations, fishbowls and structured debates. Kagan Cooperative Structures is a book that I have utilized for classroom management and to ways to engage students in small and large ways.
I am a National Board Certified Teacher
I have a BA in History from Catholic University I have a MA in Secondary Education from Catholic University I have an administration certificate from McDaniel College
I love school and everything related to it. I have a daughter who is in 3rd grade and a husband that supports any and all endeavors I have journeyed through in education and in my career. I hope that these resources help you engage your students but also lessens your work load and allows for you to take back your life!
