Teaching has been my life for over 20 years! I have done so much since I started my career as an English teacher in Brazil! My first job in the US was as a Portuguese/English Bilingual teacher in MA. I serviced all Elementary and Middle School bilingual students, pulling them out in small groups. I eventually changed careers and became a Gen Ed teacher, teaching first and third grades. I am now tutoring and volunteering in Elementary Schools, which allows me to actively work on my resources for TpT while staying in touch with students!
I always cultivated a warm, positive atmosphere in my classroom. I expected my students to always to their best, and I always gave them mine. I believe that in order for great things to happen in a classroom, you have to establish a loving rapport with your students, and we all have to regard each other with respect. I always tried to catch them being good praised them often. I believe positive reinforcement works better than taking things away.
My students used to tell me I was the "Best Teacher Ever", and I take those awards seriously. You know, right? The bond you establish with your kids, that raport that makes teaching and learning magical... that's the greatest honor and the most coveted award for me.
I'm a Certified Waldorf Pedagogy Educator, I earned a Bachelor's degree in Biology, and a Masters in Teaching English as a Second Language.
I have two daughters in college, and since moving in with my partner, three cats! You can find me Swing and Blues dancing most Friday nights, or Contradancing on weekends. I'm a big fan of Brene Brown, Eckhart Tolle, and Jonathan Fields. I watch them, listen to them, and read them. I'm into healthy living, and do the meditation and the yoga thing pretty consistently. Just like the resources I make, my food is cooked fresh from scratch, in my kitchen everyday, with love and tender care. I'm a work in progress in every way, and grateful for second chances!
