I am closing out my second year of teaching 5th grade here in the Hoosier State! I have relied heavily on TPT to help build my curriculum, and now I want to do the same for others!
My teaching is a little bit of everything! I love working with kids and helping them grow not only academically, but also as a person! 5th grade is a big turning point for our kiddos who are so close to making the big leap to middle school! Because of this, I run a pretty tight ship. While always showing care and love for each student that walks into my door, I also try to catch those little moments that become big life learning lessons!
I have been evaluated as a highly effective teacher in my two years in the classroom. This honor is not something that I expected so soon out of college; however, I work day in and day out to make sure I am the best teacher I can be.
I have grown up in a family of educators. My paternal grandfather was a superintendent, my father an administrator, and many of my aunts, uncles, and cousins have spent many years dedicating their lives to their students in their classrooms. I grew up on the south side of Indianapolis, Indiana. After graduating from an area high school, I made a short move down to Franklin College to major in Elementary Education. Go Griz! All of that led me to where I am now, an elementary school in Greenwood, Indiana... about half way between my high school and college. :)
You can catch me spending my time with my family, friends, and boyfriend. If I am not with them, I am diving into a Karen Kingsbury book or a Nicholas Sparks book... my guilty pleasure! :) I love my Indiana Hoosiers and can be found in the tailgating fields of Franklin College during football season! Our football team was a pretty big deal... :) Saturday night church followed by dinner is what gets me through those longer weeks in the classroom! I am a pretty simplistic person who at the end of the day just wants to make other people's lives better! XOXO.
