I have 10 years of experience teaching 4th grade. I have also taught summer literacy for grades 2-4 every summer for the past few years. This year I am teaching first grade. I homeschooled my own two children during the first 5 years of their schooling, so I have experience in the public school arena as well as the homeschool environment.
I am very "hands-on" in my classroom. I try to make learning as interesting and engaging as possible.
I was chosen as the "Green Apple" during my 3rd year of teaching.
I have 2 masters degrees. The first is in k-6 education and the second is in Educational Leadership. I am presently enrolled in the Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment doctoral program through Walden University.
I have been married for 25 years, to the love of my life. I have two sons who are very deep thinkers, with creative minds. We have two foxes, one an arctic fox and the other a red fox. We also have two black-tailed prairie dogs. I have raised my boys to be curious, and I tell my students "You must first be confused before you can be curious." This way they know they are not expected to understand everything from the beginning, because if they already knew everything, there would be nothing to be curious about. It makes them more comfortable with making mistakes.
