I've been a classroom teacher for twelve years. I taught fifth grade for my first five years, third grade for 4-1/4 years (I replaced a fourth grade teacher in the middle of the year), and I've been a fourth grade teacher since!
I LIVE for the "ah-ha" moments, and I enjoy watching students make connections with what they're reading: "Hey! Your necklaces looks like a group of red blood cells!" "I know I shouldn't act like Madame Charity and take it out on others when I've had a bad day."

My entire family attends the same school- no lie! My husband in the art teacher, my daughter is currently in fourth grade, and my son is in kindergarten. There are plenty of positives and negatives, but I believe that I am becoming a better teacher as I constantly look through a "teacher" and "parent" lens during my instruction. Along with attending the same school, we also take karate together! We're a karate kicking family.
