For the past three years, I have taught 3rd grade and am now making the plunge into 1st. I am so excited for this new venture and all it will entail. Through my experience, I have gained a plethora of knowledge in testing and learned strategies to enhance student achievement. My experience in teaching has taken place in Title 1 schools, and with that, I have gained skills in classroom management that enable me to incorporate a familial environment into my classroom that allows for the maximum amount of learning possible.
I use multiple teaching techniques in my classroom but try to stay away from direct instruction as much as possible. I allow the needs of my students to drive my instruction. I encourage peer tutoring, partner learning, collaborative project-based instruction, and one-on-one instruction.
