I have taught 4th grade LEAP remediation, Kindergarten, 2nd grade and 1st grade. I have been teaching 1st grade for the past 3 years and I love it. I teach in Baton Rouge, LA in a high risk location. It is my hope that all of my students will be successful in every aspect of their school career.
I like to have fun when I teach. If the kids can have fun while they learn, they will have a more fulfilling and memorable school experience. I also set high goals for all my students to let them know they can accomplish anything.
I completed the Teach Baton Rouge program a few years ago. I have been awarded grants for my classroom in order to meet the new Common Core State Standards in Louisiana.
I have lived in Baton Rouge all of my life. I attended a small private school here, then went on to attend Louisiana State University. I majored in Sociology with a focus on the criminal justice system and had a double minor in Art History and English.
Teaching is my second career. After many years of working in social services with families, I decided to attain my teaching certificate through an alternative certification program. I couldn't imagine doing anything else.
