Fierce in the Schools (FITS) is a division of Fierce, Inc. dedicated to schools. Taking our work to schools in sustainable, meaningful ways has been integral to our unabashed vision to build a better world one conversation at a time. Over the past 14 years, Fierce in the Schools has had thousands of hours of conversations with school teachers, principals, staff developers, curriculum directors, special education directors, chief academic officers, parents, superintendents, departments of education and last but not least, students. These conversations reveal a common thread: our clients feel we have missed the boat on teaching our kids on forging true, strong relationships. Our clients say, we have culled significant data, research, reports and statistics, we've made big strides in educational theory and research, yet when it comes to dealing effectively with people, when it comes to having the conversations we need to have with people who are central to our individual and collective success, we fall short and in some cases we have missed the boat. The mission of FITS is to provide educators, administrators, parents, staff and students, at all levels, with the life long skills to transform the conversations, and ultimately the relationships, central to their success.

"...What makes a good teacher? Things like creating a "holding space" for lively interaction, flexibility on how students engage in a topic, a regard for student perspective...a back-and-forth exchange to get a deeper understanding." This back and forth exchange to reach a deeper understanding is at the heart of (con)versation, a true dialogue between people. In a Fierce classroom, we engage in ongoing, authentic, skillful conversations about what we learn, how we learn and the implications for our lives. We question our assumptions, engage our collective curiosity, provoke learning, tackle touch challenges, and enrich relationships with one another. The wonderful bonus is that when students engage in what is real and relevant for them, they are inspired to be leaders of their own learning.
