TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am currently teaching 5th grade and loving it! I also teach the 5th grade GATE (gifted and talented) program in my school. I am certified to teach Elementary Education, Middle School Math, and Middle School Language Arts. I completed my student teaching experience in a 3rd grade classroom. After, I finished the school year by filling a maternity leave position in a 2nd grade classroom. Then, I taught all subjects in a 6th grade classroom in an elementary school setting. During that school year, I was a teacher for the Extended Learning Program, in which I worked with students reading below grade level. Prior to these experiences, I completed practicum courses in 1st and 2nd grade classes, as well. As you can see, I have a bit of experience in all grade levels 1-6.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am a supporter of Responsive Classroom and use it to foster a positive student-centered environment. I love hands-on and active learning, and try my best to incorporate that into my instruction to ensure student engagement. I am an advocate for utilizing technology whenever possible, as I find it truly engages and motivates my students to learn.
