I've had 12 years' experience as a high school English teacher - primarily teaching American Literature, AP Language and Composition, and World Literature. I began my career in inner-city Washington DC and currently work with students in a suburb outside Chicago.
In my classroom, I foster a student-centered environment that fundamentally relies on close reading of text and skills-based assessments. Highly individualized assessments offer students opportunities for divergent thinking and authentic inquiry.

I currently live in Oak Park, Illinois with my family - husband Drew (also a teacher), daughter Willa and son River. We enjoy taking advantage of the many parks and play opportunities in the area as well as the cultural opportunities the city of Chicago offers.
