I've taught kindergarten and first grade for several years in both public and private schools. I've taught students from across the socio-economic spectrum. I've also taught students with a variety of learning needs, from English Language Learners to the academically-gifted to the struggling readers and mathematicians. I've grateful for the experiences my diverse learning communities have brought me.
I try to balance explicit, systematic instruction with providing my students opportunities for discovery-based learning. Despite the diversity of students with whom I've worked, I do truly believe students want to learn and can learn, and it is up to teachers to help them find their success.

I have an undergraduate degree in English Literature and a minor in Religious Studies. I got my master's degree in Education with a focus in Elementary Education. I also completed the TESOL course, and earned my certification in teaching ESL.
When I'm not teaching or lesson planning, I enjoy running, hot yoga, binge-watching tv, and, most of all, spending time with my wonderful husband, sweet 1-year old, and my English Bulldog, Dan!
