I have been an elementary teacher for 37 years. What a marvelous experience it has been. I have taught 1st grade most recently but also spent several years teaching Gifted and Talented Education grades K - 5. People say ...when will you retire? My answer is ... when I stop arriving at school with a smile on my face and a spring in my step looking forward to the curriculum and the day I have planned for my kiddos.
My passion is technology. I have been a leader in our district training our staff on integrating the SMART board, Chrombook, and tablets into the curriculum. Developing staff and students who are competent in digital understanding will be key promoting success in the future. I have enjoyed sharing curriculum, mathematics, and technology experiences through presentations and training sessions with districts throughout the State of Ohio.
I am honored to have been chosen as Sylvania Schools Educator of the year two times. The experience of completing the State essays was rewarding and a nice reflection of the experiences I have shared with students, parents, and peers. I am honored to be chosen as a Digital Leader in our district as well as serving on our Leadership Team.
I have my masters degree from Michigan State University and have continued to grow through workshops, conferences, and college courses. At Michigan State I was a cheerleader and I continue to be an avid fan of the Spartans. Parents and students at my building enjoy bantering about atheletics as I live in a Buckeye, Wolverine infested area.
I am married to my husband John and together we raised 3 sons who are now wonderful young men. I have a passion for tennis and am president of one local board and secretary of the USTA district board. Our goal is to promote tennis to students 10 and under. For the past 2 years I have provided morning winter sessions for our school district with Tshirts, free lessons with pros, and a celebration. I still play competitively myself!! I am an avid biker, reader, and love kayaking at our lake house when I am not on the computer preparing curriculum for successful learning experiences.
