My education career started in the Dearborn neighborhood of inner-city Chicago, tutoring kids after school at those long cafeteria tables. The first week, they cussed me out using words I'd never heard and wouldn't come out from under the table. Since then, I've taught first grade, adult ELL, SAT prep, struggling readers, you name it! But my heart is still for those "side by side" moments when learners gain a greater sense of what's possible for them. I hope these resources help you and your students find your own "fire-lighting moments."
My teaching styles uses a lot of humor, because most of my students think of school as dull and boring. It's interactive and very flexible, based on what opportunities present themselves. I take what I learn from them and run with it.

I earned my Bachelors of Arts in Education from Eastern Washington University in 2007, along with my Reading Endorsement. I was certified to teach all subjects K-5 and reading specifically K-12.
These days, I'm together at the table with students in Haiti, where my husband and I serve with Mission Aviation Fellowship.
