I taught special education and regular education since receiving my Masters Degree in 1985 in Elementary Education and Acoustically Handicapped Education. I taught deaf and hard of hearing students for five years in a self-contained setting. For the remaining years, I taught regular first and second grade with mainstreamed deaf and hard of hearing students as well as other special needs students.
I want my students to construct their own meaning by actively involving as many senses including auditory, visual, tactile, and kinesthetic means. My goal is to encourage students to be metacognitive thinkers so they know what they know, what they need to learn, and how to learn it.

The most influential training I took was Add+VantageMR through Math Recovery. That training drastically changed my way of teaching and my personal life. I am passionate about helping students develop a strong numeracy foundation. I have created numeracy materials that I offer for sale at www.flipflopmath.com, and now I am working on developing products for teachers on TpT.
I present at national and regional math conferences around the country. I also provide training and workshops. For more information, go to www.flipflopmath.com.
