I have been in education for almost 12 years now. I started as a teaching assistant in Kindergarten, then I did a leave replacement in grade 1. After that I taught 3rd grade for 4 years and 4th grade for 5 years.
I believe in hands on inquiry based learned that incorporates students needs and interests.

I hold a Masters in Elementary Education from Queens College and, Bachelors Degree in Music Performance and the Fine Arts.
I am currently a 4th grade teacher at Our World Neighborhood Charter School in Astoria, Queens. I began my career there, as a kindergarten teacher’s assistant in 2006, and from there grew as a professional, teaching grades 1, 3, and currently 4. Whether working cooperatively with my grade level team and support staff to successfully plan and implement lesson plans, or assuming the responsibilities of the classroom, my experiences have enabled me to work with various age and learning levels. I have also been given the opportunities to work with small groups of students, in reading and math afterschool academies, in order to strengthen their reading, writing skills, and math skills, as well as prepare students for the rigorous state exams. Aside from my work in the field of education, I also have experience working for a program that provides music therapy services for children with special needs, primarily autism. My ten years of work at the Rebecca Center for Music Therapy has positively affected my life in countless ways, and has aided in my overall understanding and compassion for those living with disabilities
