I have been teaching for 19 years in both public and private schools. I have taught several grade levels including 2, 3, 4, and 5-8 Language Arts. I am currently teaching 2nd grade.
I run a very organized classroom. While student teaching, my lead teacher said that I had a "gift" for classroom management. I teach both reading and math through small groups. Language Arts and social studies are typically project based learning. At any given time, you will find students sitting all over my room in comfortable areas. Everyone has an assigned desk, but there is a lot of freedom to grab a pillow and sit on the floor, sit on a bench, or snuggle in a oversized pillow chair. I work very hard to stay on top of what is expected of me and more importantly the needs of my students.
I was awarded with "Teacher of the Year". I have also been the lead teacher for my level for 7 years.
My bachelor's degree is in Early Childhood Education with a double major in English.
I am a military brat and have lived in more places than I care to name. So traveling is a passion for me. I have a set of twin boys who hold the keys to my heart. I enjoy talking to my mother daily, spending time with my sons, reading, finding new tools to use in my classroom, and when I don’t find just what I am looking for…. I make my own resources.
