I am a fourth grade teacher at a Title I school in Virginia.
I teach in a heavily ELL-populated school, so visuals are everything! My teaching philosophy is that movement and discussion are the keys to learning. I like to incorporate centers into my classroom for a variety of different reasons, including the fact that it promotes cooperation, fosters independence and keeps the students moving and therefore (hopefully!!) engaged and on-task.
I work on an assessment team to create the best formative and summative assessment activities possible for our students and teachers. Quick and simple consistent formative assessments can really streamline your teaching. I also work on a math team at my school to help increase the rigor of our teaching and assessments.
I went to the same public school system for 1st - 12th grade that I teach 4th grade in now. I then went to Penn State University to get my B.S. in Elementary Education. We are!
I am married to my best friend. I love to travel and I have a miniature schnauzer named Brooklyn.
