My teaching experience began in 1999 as a junior high paraprofessional. I received my teaching certification in 2005 and have been teaching ELA ever since. I taught on the junior high level for ten years and now, I am currently teaching fourth and fifth grade ELA. I absolutely LOVE working with the younger students and often wonder why it took me so long to make the change. My goal is to move into an administrator's position when the right one opens up.
My classroom is very active and noisy at times. Just when I think it gets a little too busy.... I realize learning is taking place. I feel students learn best by working with each other and by using their critical thinking skills.
The best honor I have received is seeing a former student and hearing them thank me for being their teacher. No award can beat it!
Graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2005 with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. In addition, I received my Master of Education in 2012 from SFA.
I am married with two wonderful young adults. I spend my spare time researching and creating lessons/activities for my students and my TpT store.
