I have taught all grades 4-12. I have taught all levels of German, from 1 to AP, and levels 1-2 of Spanish. I have taught in 2 districts in Buffalo, NY, and taught German at a high school in Charlotte, and have been teaching in Wake County, at Wakefield HS since 2005. 2016-2017 is my 18th year of teaching.

Summer of 2006--attended a 2 week, immersion-style Seminar: Film im Unterricht, at Sommer in Sewannee. In the summer of 2010 I traveled to Berlin, where I took part in a 2 week course just for German teachers at the Goethe Institute! Summer of 2015, participated in a week-long seminar at Appalachian State University, developing curricular materials for units combing MINT (STEM) und Jugendliteratur (youth literature).
I received my BA in German, Spanish, and European Studies from Canisius College, in Buffalo, New York, and my MSEd from Canisius in Secondary Education. I am certified in NY for 7-12 German and Spanish, and in NC for K-12 German and Spanish. I studied abroad with AFS-Year Program to Austria when I was 17, deferring college for one year for this experience. In college I studied in Spain at the Universidad de Oviedo, and lived in Dortmund and Essen in Germany.
Since coming to Wake County, I have become involved with the Foreign Language Association of North Carolina (FLANC), and have been very involved with our local German Teachers of Wake County Professional Learning Team. I am also a member of the AATG (American Assoc. of Teachers of German). At Wakefield I am a member of the Technology committee, and have been the German Club Advisor since it's inception in 2005. I am also the co-chair of the World Language Department at WHS.
